It's a beautiful~ (not sunday) Saturday~!
Woke up kind of early today, at around 7+ when many clangings just rang me out of my sleep. Mom was digging some coins out. But I was so beaten that I returned to dream fast. Saw a sms in my phone and didn't reply. Was really very beaten. Then I dreamt, a continuation of that sms. Haha. Was on MSN chatting with leg=P So in the end I only woke up at 10? The stay at home ws kind of time wasting, except that I finally managed to find some time to spend with my mom.
At late noon, I went to Eewen's church. It was with much struggle, because of laziness and tiredness etc. But in the end I still pulled myself to attend. It's BBTC, Balestier Bedok Tampines Church or something like that. Took bus 18, and saw Red Swastika school, and found the church after that. Quite an easy place to find. Definitely not me becoming street smart or anything along that line. I'm the second direction idiot in F.F, after Bao. It's a really big church, much bigger than mine, easily more than 5 times. It's a little similar to the first one I went, when I was still with Jovita. Dark dark, cold cold. The guest speaker rocks though. Some Mr Joseph Chean. He's a missionary who shared with us many amazing testimonies. By the way, he was offered a scholarship to go to UK to persuade something he really want, because God told him to do so. At the age of 23, he entered full-time ministry and became a youth pastor. For 8 years, the church fluorished under him, and one day God spoke to him again and asked him to become a missionary. It was with much struggle, because missionaries do not have salary. However, because of his obedience and faith in the Lord, he did just that. And for around 12 years, he has bear many seeds under him, seeing changes to many lives around the world. Quote from John12:24-26
The truth is, a kernel of wheat must be planted in the soil. Unless it dies it will be alone- a single seed. But its death will produce many new kernels- a plentiful harvest of new lives. Those who love their life in this world will lose it. Those who despise their life in this world will keep it for eternal life.
He gave his life many times to the Lord, and his new kernels? The youths, the people in the discrete areas of the world whom he had reached out to. 12 years without salary, but he remembered, God is the one who provides everything for His people. He has a family and 2 kids, and the sense of satisfaction for doing God's work was way beyond.
He came to know Christ when he was 19 years old. Being the rebellious son, he went to church despite the parents' objection and got baptised at an Anglican church one day. The mom went to the medium to ask for his son to be removed of the "evil one". The medium told her the son was possessed by some spirit which he can't touch. Angry, the mom questioned him: "you have so many idols here, and combined power still cannot save my son?"And the medium answered: "your son was possessed by the spirit of the most high GOD, whom I cannot touch." From then on, the family stopped refusing him the rights to go to church. How wonderful is the Lord?!
There was once this mission trip to Brazil. And he met this two brazilian ladies who told him about their encounter. When they were 19 years old, there was one day when God spoke to them about this unheard tribe in the Amazon jungle. They went to research in the national library as well as in the government history archive and there was no record of that particular tribe. Being so assured that it was God who had spoken to them, they decided to go into the jungle to search for the tribe. No address, no signboards, and their only guidance and directions were given by their obedience towards God. God guided them. And within 1 week, they found the tribe, the unheard tribe. Years later, they tribe came to know about Lord. And when the missionary was there, the local invited the people from the tribe to lead the worship. Clad scathily in pieces of cloth and holding a spear in one hand, they took the stage. There was no lyrics and no rhythm. All that was there was a tribal tongue and their tribal dance, but the crowd was touched. In fact, the presence of God was so intense that the entire worshipping lasted for an hour and a half, all in the tribal custom. Praise the Lord!
Another time in Cambodia. There was this team from America. They had prepared 2 bags of clothing for the orphanage there. When they saw the size of the crowd, they knew it's not going to be enough for the people. They didn't want to disappoint the crowd, and they were reluctant to give the clothes out. However, the pastor there insist that they should give it out since they brought the shirts there. Trust in the Lord, and the clothes will multiply like the fish and the bread. They were so scared and they begun crying as they gave out the clothings. One by one each cambodian kid received the shirt. When the entire crowd had received 3 sets of clothing each, they knew that God had multiplied the clothes, for the bags remained full. Praise the Lord!
Then there was this mission trip to China where they visited the orphange there. Being a communist country, preaching to people below the age of 18 was illegal. So basically they just went there to do community work. Each day they would ask the Lord, what should they do. And one day, God asked them to cook for the orphans. The kids enjoyed the curry chicken and the pork as they used to only have these on Chinese New Year only. This drew them closer and the kids wanted Mr Jo to teach them sing songs. So the team abided and taught them a simplke tune they brought from Singapore. And they asked the kids, who made the flowers and the birds. When they didn't know, the Mr Jo asked them to seek within the lyrics, and they identified- the Lord. And some of them said that they did not have parents, could they asked to know Lord. The team gave them a copy of the new testements and asked them to finish it. Half a year later, they returned, and they asked the team what is a church. From then on, a church was born, in the midst of that tribal area in the mountains. Praise the Lord!
Another time, he went to India with a team of several youths. They climbed a mountain that was so filthy with rubbish. Along the way, they witnessed many things, women having tea by the side of the rubbish picking lices from each other's hair, kids sticking their head into filthy oily water to retrieve their marble. One of the youths whispered to Mr Jo: "Luckily we did not live here." Indeed, what did we do to deserve to be born in Singapore to enjoy that kind of luxury in life. And a voice suddenly spoke to them: "I live and walk amongst them." The same God that we pray to almost everyday, and very much taken granted of, actually resided amongst them. In the slums that contained a quarter of Singapore's population, just on that mountain alone. Praise the Lord!
There was this other arts meeting where people from all over the wordl came to China, KunMing to spread the words through arts interaction. A very renowned choir from some western country came prepared with a renown worshipping song with the choir that goes Hallelujah! It was by far the best. And on the day of the opening ceremony, the miao people from one of China's tribes presented that exact same song, which touched the heart of so many, that from then on, China became a place where christianity has easy assess to. The score that the Miao people used was left there in 1949. After China became a communist country, religions were banned, but the score remained. And 50 years later, it became a tribal song which uses all the tribal instruments. God used this to touch the hearts of so many people. Praise the Lord!
After service, many people cried and the presence of God was felt. It was a fantastic feeling, and I want to be God's tool for His work! Father Lord, do you want me to do anything?
After service, Eewen walked me and Angelina to the bus stop. Sheng Chuan went off to play soccer. Yes I wanted to play, but I wanted to go home more=P At the bus stop was awkwardness times 10. Totally no topic to spark off any conversation. So randomly chatted a little before going home. Basically that's that for today. Praise the Lord!
