Sunday's the 50-dollars day. Yes, I paid literally paid 50 bucks for this day. Thus, it was a day I really should have stretched to make every bucks worth it. First indication of such was that I woke at 430 in the morning. Depsite having only slept at 130 the previous night, I was able to pick myself up at 430. Applauded effort=P Then bathed and all, and started calling Joel. That was the first time I gave him morning calls, and it was really only the start. The deal was 5, and I started calling him just then. But calls after calls, they all led me to the voice mail. Total tally went up to 22 calls (until 535), and no he hasn't woken up even until then. It was only when I called his house and got the mom to wake him up that he really came out of that fault-ful sleep. And Joel Wong, don't deceive me! You never gave me 30 wake up calls, I remember it was 22 back then also. But I woke up on the 22nd, unlike someone.
So I got a little put off when the bus took like forever to come. I got to his house at 615 nevertheless. My heart was thumping quickly by then because Joel had given the scare that my running shirt was sized down to small, and it was really tight and stuffs. So I was kind of worried, but the worry did not last. When I looked at it, it looked fine; when I put it on, it looked fine still. Hm, even the mom said so. Joel, your judgement a little lousy huh. So we set off to that place, had random conversation about God remembers what, and before long we were already there. Went over to this place at the other side of the city hall's station to put our bags, and soon we were on our way. Haha, frankly, this was both our first time's involement in such a large scale race. So got embarrassed on a few occassions.
First embarrassment: we ran with the girls. When we heard the announcment to gather, we just went ahead with the mob. But as we listened more carefully, that was for the women's category. We saw presence of males here and there though, so we decided to stay put. Trust me, the feeling sucks, and I even asked the road marshal if we could go ahead on the route at the side when he told us the guys had already started sometime ago. Sigh, I wanted to join in the enthusiasm, but as the host kept saying ladies and related terms, it just put me off.
Bang! The race started, and I was desperate to get to the fun. So Joel followed. Haha, manage to squeeze forward a little. But Joel had gastric halfwat, so I asked him to walk, and I proceeded on. Such a long race. My furthest before this was 7 km, so it was really an accomplishment for me. The entire express way was cordoned off for the race, and the upslope was like have the wa-ifying effect. Comparable to our school's lucky heights, but much longer. So after a few attempts to leap my way upwards, I decided to walk, and saw many girls ran past me. But at the top of the slope, I smirked. Swoosh, that's my style. Gravity, and I was back ahead of them again. 3 water stations, and I only managed just as many sips of water. The remaining was all poured over me=P Haha, really fun running with so many people. The first few kilometres were fast, but the last few got like really long. I remember seeing the 40 km sign, then I thought it's only 2 km more. But after very long, then I saw the 41 km sign. Haha, mental thing again. The more you want something, the more distant it behaves.
Anyway, embarrassment 2: When I saw the 42 km sign, I sprinted. Reason being, despite running the 10 km run, 42 km should mark the end of the race shouldn't it? So I sprinted and once I passed that sign I thought it's finally over. So I stopped and started walking. And only after a few steps, I realise all the other people were still jogging. Then an uncle joggin beside me asked me "you preserved energy for last splurge arh?" The nxt thing I saw was the finish banner, meaning I mistook the previous one for finish. So I got to pick myself up from that sprint, and started jogging, and sprinted again for the last stretch. Raced an NS man and I won=P Yay!
After that I waited for Joel at the finish line, and the marshall was anything but well-mannered. Lots of them were shouting here and there shooing the people away from the finish line. I mean I understand that they wanted to clear the place, but then at least do be considerate with the people who just finished the race. I saw this girl lying on the floor trying to catch breath, but the marshal just went up to her and snapped. Haiz. Otherwise the other marshals whom we met along the way were friendly, and their cheering was supportive^^
After that meeting up with Joel, we sat for a while before proceeding on to get our medal and free drinks. I finished 2 bottles of 100 plus.
Took MRT to Joel's house after that, and had nice long conversation. Talked a lot, and I realise I was still the talk-er again. Take away Mcdonald's and had it at his house for lunch. Haha, super nice lunch, which I talked again=P Now you know my background even more=P. Joel's sister came home at 3, and a meeting was imminent. So when she came into the room, I immediately hold her up, and had a meeting. Like really, a meeting, that lasted for less than 5 minutes=P Haha.
Left for home after that, wearing Joel's flop-flops. Tiring day, and I dozed off straight after dinner, at around 8. Woke up numerous times in between, but manage to fall back to sleep=P Am feeling super recharged now=) Many days of entries were finally back on track^^
I'm not sure if I'm noticeable, but I'm the sprinter in the red circle.
Timing and position both not very good, but considering that I waited for my friend, and starting wronly, hm... I will work harder=) Target still 45 minutes around there.
