SL-Camp day 2
Second day of the SL-Camp started at around 8. I woke up at 7+ after last night's 4a.m.'s sleep. Compared to most people, this amount was already considered luxury at the camp, and I got to admit I had a super nice sleep, at the expense of Crys' comfort. Must have been nudging her the entire night! =P
We had our breakfast, which I decided to skip, and then proceeded on to the beach for some briefing. Due to the fact that if we were to go according to the previous grouping, the size would be too small, and the number would be too many, there was a random re-grouping of people, where everyone was separated! I was separated from Shermaine too! Boohoo='(
For a while, I did not like my new grouping at all. I mean who would? Especially afte spending so much time to know each other better the previous night and bonding up so well, who would like a change? No one likes changes, but life is usually spiced up with these small things that we don't like to bring out the great pleasure when small things that we like happens. Despite this being an imprompt plan, it was still a good learning experience for us, as it allowed us to really learn how to work and cope with changes when we encounter them the next time. Adaptability is one of the leadership qualities. So in my new team, I was put together with Lwin and Jocina. Lwin's thigh was injured from the previous night's orienteering, so the group was practically left with the 2 of us to facilitate. Perhaps I drew back too much, that I could sense that some of them didn't really like me. Haha, but main point here is that the theme of the congress was to step out and step up. Camp was deja vu but I thought the congress value was still applicable nevertheless since there are all leaders. Soon, our raft was built and it looked super solid, and it was proven to really be what it looked like when we sailed out to the sea later. The group was further devided into 2, and I followed the land group at first. Listening to the announcements, we set off to carry out our 2 tasks on land before swopping with the other half who went out to sea. Instruction was that the land station would be spread out along the stretch of the park, but when we set off to the left, we realise we could not find any stations at all. Along the way, they were kind o quiet, and reminders were needed to spur them to act, like do cheers etc. So we decided to head back when it became too far out, and we found the other stations soon after. Fortunately we set off much earlier than the other groups, else we would have lagged behind even more. So we proceeded on with the games, where the rules were really unfair at times. That's part of the unfairness in life that we have to deal with bah. After that, we swopped with the sea people, and set out to sea to complete the remaining 2 tasks. We were pretty quick, but as I was about to get off the raft, the wound on my knee knocked into its edge and started bleeding, and it was kind of painful. Therefore, I did not help to carry the raft back. Apologies if you guys had minded. So I was brought to the side of the path, and Gordon gave me some dressing to the wound. Can become a nurse already. Then, they brought me to the headquarter where Sinyee helped me with the wound again. Had some random chat with the people there, and I'm now wondering why were there always only girls? That aside, so because of that wound I came up with this perfect prank that I've been stung by a jellyfish in that wound, and the people around agreed to help. So in the end, quite a few of the people bought in that prank and was tricked. I bet some of them still doesn't know it even until now! Shermaine would not have known it if I hadn't revealed it myself=P
Finally, it was the much anticipated lunch. We had lunch box for lunch, I mean duh -_-". We managed to get most of the group 3 members with us at some road at the further end of the park, and we decided to discuss some skit that we were going to do for that night's campfire. But in the end, it just turned out to besome random talks, which eventually descended to become an awkward moment of silence.
After lunch, we had a series of game (I forgot the general term of the event already). First was soccer, where we first went down 1-0, and fought back resilently to win 2-1; next was some card game, then the plate game, captain's cloth (where our group was super disadvantaged, and I got super pissed), and then the blow ping pong game, and finally the tug-of-war! We did so much GROUP 3~ HUAT that my throat is already torn now.
So that basically ended our tiring afternoon. Debrief was cool, because all of us shared a lot of things, and I kept having thoughts coming in that I thought might be helpful to them in not only their leadership journey but their other wakes of lives. It was even cooler when Shermaine said that the other groups' participants complained! Group 3 had nothing of that sort, and GROUP 3~ Huat arh~!
Around 440 in the noon, we finally set off back to school. Everyone was simply beaten, and most of the people dozed off on the bus. But I was feeling chatty, so I talked with Jovian, Rui Wen, Zheng Yang and Chee Leong for quite a bit of the journey (the entire journey to be exact). School sweet school. We packed our stuffs, reconfirmed skit, and went to take shower. Before that, I was one of the few who did not bathe at all for the pas 2 days, and they were like you stinky, that kind of thing. Though I know I didn't, and people said I didn't=) So I was not! =P
Anyway, dinner was cool, much better than lunch=P Shermaine, don't be upset over the hot Ching'teng=). We like the food you've ordered, food IC=). Filling dinner, before we went to rehearse our skit again, and finally set off for our indoor "campfire" at LT3. All the skits were instructed to be made based on the Temasek Spirit, and there were a few nice ones. Our group came up with some announcements and the spirit enlightening us. People said our skit was funny, and so I'm really proud of group 3~! Other segments of the games in cluded some random riddles, some song guessing games, and finally some eating competition, where Naomi and Crys represented us! You guys rock=) We ended off with a prize giving ceremony, and finally our very own school song and school cheer! That's it- the temasek Spirit=)
Then we took some of our things and went to Sports Complex. Had wanted to wait for Shermaine but her debrief took super long, so we went ahead first. Had a bit of games, chatted quite a while while waiting for her to return to join us. Eventually one by one they fell asleep, and I was the only one left awake. Leg told me she's leaving that night, but I did not managed to catch her on time, so could only send her a delayed one. Will keep her in prayers though. Apart from that, I could only play with my own hands, and count the number of flash of lightnings. Pathetic me, who could not resist the temptation of sleepiness, and boredom that I finally dozed off. Sorry for not waiting for you=P
